Welcome to Marci Carroll Psychotherapy

Counselling and Psychotherapy to support you through the challenges of early motherhood.

Therapy is an empowering form of self-care, and I am so glad you are here to explore what it can offer you.

HOW I CAN SUPPORT YOU

Motherhood Matters

Your experience of your motherhood journey matters to me – while motherhood is challenging, I believe that the silence that exists around these challenges make them much more difficult than they need to be, causing unnecessary confusion, self-doubt and isolation.

Motherhood Matters

Walk, Talk & Coffee

I'd love to join you and your baby on your morning walk in your local park (South Dublin). What we discuss will be completely confidential, and will be met with compassion and without judgement, just like in a therapy session.

Walk, Talk, Coffee

1:1 Therapy

A deeper exploration to support you with anything that may be blocking your contentment and enjoyment of life, to work towards developing a greater sense of ease and joy.  These sessions are in the Donnybrook Centre and ZestLife Churchtown.

My Services

Marci Carroll, psychotherapist. A woman with shoulder-length dark brown hair smiling in a pink sleeveless top, sitting in a therapy room with beige walls and framed wall art in the background.

You love your baby, but this isn't what you expected. You may not be enjoying life as much as you would like, or you may not be feeling like your usual self. You may have a specific concern, such as stress management, financial strain, relationship difficulties, or perhaps be worried that you may have postnatal anxiety or depression. Or perhaps you feel that since becoming a mother, every aspect of your life has been turned completely upside down. You don’t have to suffer through any of these challenges alone, and I can support you to understand and manage them.

I specialise in supporting new mothers in this time of huge transition. It does not have to feel this hard. Find out more about my Motherhood Matters Services here.

I provide a confidential, empathic and supportive space for you to work towards developing a greater sense of inner contentment. I believe that everyone has their own guiding light within them, but this can get blocked by life circumstances and old habits which no longer serve us. I will support you to gently explore what these barriers might be, and to learn new coping mechanisms, in order to live your most fulfilled life.

What You Can Expect

My therapeutic approach is integrative, holistic and person-centred. What does this mean for you?

Integrative - This means that I draw on a number of approaches, much like reaching into a tool box. These include psychodynamic (exploring childhood issues), CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) and Gestalt (present-focused) therapies, the theory of matrescence, along with mindfulness and self-compassion techniques. After working together, you will also have your own tool box to draw on.

Holistic – Our work together will blend an exploration of your psychology (thoughts and emotions), your physical care (movement, nutrition, sleep), your lifestyle factors and choices, and your relationships.

Person-centred - Above all else, your sessions are your time and space for you, and I will always follow your lead.

Why I Do This Work

I believe that working with a psychotherapist is a gift that everyone should be able to avail of at least once in their life, if they want to (in my ideal world, everybody would want to!)

I have always been fascinated by the human mind, and what makes each individual unique. I can’t fully explain why, because I wasn’t exposed to these sorts of conversations growing up. (Who was in 1980’s Ireland?!)  Maybe that’s what fuelled my curiosity?
